Chim Chim, Bangkok’s newest design-centric cafe, restaurant and all-day hangout, promises quality comfort food and creative beverages in an art-filled space. Channeling an artist’s loft, Chim Chim offers a laid-back setting in which to enjoy breakfast favourites, sourdough pizzas, homemade pastas, burgers, sandwiches on artisanal bread or fresh-roasted coffee amid greenery and Dadaist pops of colour.
Floor-to-ceiling windows let natural light stream in, while the venue’s crisp whitewashed walls and terrazzo floors provide the feeling of an art gallery. The bold tone is further emphasised by artworks from local talents, which are strewn throughout the venue and will rotate regularly.
As part of the Chim Chim Art Project, the venue presents a selection of multimedia works from Thai and international artists, whether emerging or established, which rotates on a regular basis. The flexible space presents a clean canvas for a diverse display of creativity, which continues with an upstairs workshop space that encourages interaction between resident artists and the public. The debut exhibition is a collaboration between mysterious design duo Munchausen and Chim Chim.
The name Chim Chim refers to the Thai word “chim,” which means to taste or try out something new or different, and this philosophy extends beyond food, encouraging guests to feed their imagination by embracing new experiences.
